This Is Not Your Granny's Cookbook

I was going trough my old stuff when i stumbled upon this "cookbook " i bought a couple of years back, and after skimming through the book again i remembered why i bought it in the first place.

No one writes about food or cooking quite like Anthony Bourdain. This book will leave you thinking either you love everything about coking or ending up hating everything about it. There aren't any shortcuts on how to cook a complicated meal on this book but instead he will remind you how much effort, love and also hate can go into preparing a meal.

so if you are planning to buy a cookbook and recipe's anytime soon, give this book a try or if you're low on cash or quite the 'cheapskate', you can borrow it from me!

so pick up you knife, pots and towels because it's gonna get messy here.

I love it, I love it, I love it.
Very difficult to find really good laksa in KL & PJ these days.
So yeah, THIS IS IT! haha.

It's good but I think their Laksa is the main thing to have.
The cendol, as a drink while/after eating the laksa.
Oooohh, very nice to have it on a hot day. Refreshing. hehe

I found another interesting fact!

An onion, apple and potato all have the same taste. The differences in flavour
are caused by their smell.

What do you guys think? haha. Let say, we cant smell,
will all these 3 fruits/vegetables taste the same?
hmmmm. haha.

Who likes Lamb!?

Marinated beautifully with awesome spices. :p
Served on a little grill thingy with the fire lighted up.
Then, there's the rice, sambal and garlic.
I suggest you guys should put the garlic on the grill for a while
then mix it with the rice. YUMM.
Its only RM19.90!

Ice Lemon Tea.
Oh, you see the ice stick thingy? Yeah, they use this instead of normal ice.
It's actually really cool. You know why? Its because the ice stick is flavoured. Of course, Lemon Tea flavour. I guess they use this so when it melts, the drink does not become diluted. Very creative, right?

Mashed Potato Mozzarella Cheese Balls.
The potato was too mashed up. You know what i mean? Like, it was too soft and it was tasteless.(not enough salt?) Well, I liked the cheese part of it.

Chicken Rice.
I really like the presentation. I find it kinda cute. haha.
Hmm.. talking about taste....its tasty. nothing great though.
The presentation gives the extra point.

I've been doing some research and found some interesting facts about food!

Food slang 101

some of you might already knew about this but im going to tell you anyway, here are some interesting food slang that you probably want to use the next time you talk about food!

food coma - the tiredness experienced after eating a satisfying meal.

Froyo - frozen yogurt.

Graze - to eat. Usually used to refer to food laid out "buffet" style, as at a party.

Giggle water - alcohol.

Grindage - food. Pronounced "GRINE-dij."

Grinder - a sandwich, also called "hoagie" or "sub."

Grub - good tasting. can be used to describe food

Cup of Joe - coffee.

OJ - orange juice.

Pillage - to eat and drink.

Baltic tea - Vodka!

Za- pizza.

Satay is nothing without the peanut sauce and nasi impit (cubed rice?)
I love onions. So, onions should be on the plate as well!
